Fellow WestJet and Sunwing Pilots,

Today, March 4, 2025, sees the first tranche of Sunwing pilots enter the WestJet pilot ranks. As we embark on this new chapter together, we wanted to share a few thoughts. The integration of Sunwing pilots into WestJet marks a significant milestone in our collective journeys. Although we are cautiously optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead, we realize they will come with certain challenges for members of the combined pilot group.? 

It is important to note that a business decision was made by Onex to merge our two airlines, and it is incumbent on WestJet Management to seize the potential opportunity by continuing to grow the combined airline. Neither Unifor nor ALPA, and certainly none of the pilots from our respective carriers, had any say in this decision. While the merging of our two pilot groups was out of our control, who we become from this point on is very much up to each of us.??? 

Our goal is to move forward together with?a spirit of unity and professionalism. We are confident that by working together, we can overcome any obstacles and continue to build on our enviable safety record. The strength of our combined pilot groups will be testament to our commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing the best possible service to our crews and passengers.? 

We are committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect. It is essential that we support one another and maintain open lines of communication as we navigate this integration process. By doing so,?we will lay a solid foundation on which we can build collectively as we enter contract negotiations for our next agreement.??? 

Professionalism will continue to be at the core of everything we do. As pilots, we have a responsibility to uphold the highest standards of safety. Together, we will continue to build on the legacy of excellence that both WestJet and Sunwing pilots have established.???
